Start Time: Friday, June 2, 2023 04:15 pm

End Time:

We would like to congratulate Prof. Scheller for receiving the Anthony and Alice Turner award for “outstanding, sustained and long-term contributions to biosensor technology with particular regard to both novelty and the realization of applications with real value” at the World Congress on Biosensors 2023 in Busan, South Korea, on June 6th.

The founding member and former group leader of UniSysCat achieved a long list of accomplishments during his career:  As a pioneer in biosensor technology, he published an article on a new enzyme electrode for urea in the first volume of the journal BIOSENSORS in 1985 and gave a plenary lecture on glucose sensors for diabetes control at the First World Congress on Biosensors in Singapore in 1990. Under his leadership, the first biosensor in Europe for the determination of blood glucose was commercialized and put into clinical practice in 1983. In 1998, he organized the 5th Biosensor World Congress in Berlin. He has been (Honorary) Professor of Analytical Biochemistry since 1990 and was Vice President for Research and Young Scientists at the University of Potsdam from 2002 to 2008 and published more than 500 papers on bio-electrochemistry and bio- and biomimetic sensors.
