Han Sun appointed W2-S professor at TU Berlin

Start Time: Monday, January 31, 2022 09:00 am

End Time:

The group of Dr. Han Sun belongs to the Chemical Biology Platform at the Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) in Berlin. Today, she has been officially appointed as a W2-S professor at the Technical University of Berlin. She is involved in different exciting projects related to drug development research in both institutions. UniSysCat warmly congratulates her on this important career move!

Her research interests are the development and application of molecular modeling and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations together with other chem- and bioinformatic tools with the aim to design novel bioactive molecules and to characterize their interactions with biological targets. Furthermore, her group seeks to develop a better understanding of the biophysical principles of potassium-selective and non-selective cation channels, including permeation mechanism, inhibition and activation by small molecules as well as gating. Finally, they are actively involved in the development of novel nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) based methods for studying the structure and stereochemistry of challenging natural products and drug-like molecules, which still represents one of the major bottlenecks in drug discovery.

Currently, together with Dr. Tillmann Utesch as a Co-PI, Prof. Dr. Han Sun is leading the project “Investigation of the local electric field and functional dynamics in enzymatic processes by MD simulations” within UniSysCat (research unit B and unit E).
