UniSysCat is proud to announce that the first science podcast reflecting the research done within Germany's top research networks, the Clusters of Excellence, went on air! On September 1, 2021, the first episode of the podcast of the clusters of excellence in Germany went online and can be streamed: "Exzellent erklärt – Spitzenforschung für alle".

The podcast on current scientific topics shows the diversity of research in the clusters of excellence: from African studies to Medicine. In each episode, listeners can expect insights into the interdisciplinary work of a research network. The scientists of the clusters of excellence talk to podcaster Larissa Vassilian about how they want to find scientifically sound answers to relevant topics of our time. UniSysCat will also be represented in a podcast episode following in 2022.

Ten science communicators from various clusters of excellence worked together over several months to develop the concept for the new podcast series. “We want to make cutting-edge research visible and tangible for everyone,” explains Doreen Böttcher, responsible for public relations at the “Center for Tactile Internet with Human-in-the-Loop” (CeTI) at the Technical University of Dresden (TUD) and a member of the project team new science podcasts "Exzellent erklärt – Spitzenforschung für alle". The common goal of the project team: to inform a broad public about the topics and methods of the clusters of excellence.

The German Research Foundation (DFG) supports outstanding research fields at German universities and other scientific institutions with the 57 clusters of excellence. In total, the federal and state governments jointly provide 385 million euros annually for all clusters of excellence.
