Prof. Dr. Beatriz Roldan Cuenya, a group leader within our research cluster, has been awarded with a membership to the Academia Europaea for her outstanding contributions and dedication to the advancement of scientific research in Europe.
The Director of the Department of Interface Science has officially elected her with this membership at the beginning of august. The Academia Europaea is a pan-European society dedicated to advancing scholarship in the Humanities, Letters, Law and Sciences. She was officially selected because of her contributions to the elemental comprehension of heterogeneous catalysis via nanoparticles and nanostructured surfaces. These achievements act as guiding lights for the future of rational design of more efficient catalysts with extended lifetimes. Her contributions have also attributed to the advancement in understanding the dynamic structure and design of nanocatalysts and how their mechanisms work for important chemical processes such as the thermal and electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide to higher value chemicals and fuels.
