Welcome to the Synthesizer Podcast!

The synthesizer podcast went online on February 6, 2025.

A transformation is underway in the chemicals sector. But the “chemical turnaround” is still a relatively unknown term among the public. This transformation is not in the public eye, even though it concerns all of us: it is essential for the transition to a modern, sustainable future. The Synthesizer Podcast focuses on the transformation of chemistry in order to explain, connect perspectives and ultimately “synthesize” a holistic picture of this important transformation.

The science podcast, which is funded by the Berlin University Alliance, is conceptualized and produced by Nona Schulte-Römer and UniSysCat postdoc Benjamin Steininger. The guests of the upcoming episodes are experts from the fields of chemistry, physics, environmental sciences, philosophy and practice who are advancing the chemical turnaround with their research and work. Also the UniSysCat scientists Maria Andrea Mroginski, Peter Seeberger and Matthias Driess will be guests in the upcoming episodes. They report on how key tools of fossil chemistry such as catalysis are being 'reversed', and what role artificial intelligence and modified raw materials play in this.

The pilot episode of the new podcast has been released on February 6, 2025. It's an opening episode without guests, but with exactly the food for thought that motivated the moderation team to create this podcast: https://synthesizer.podcaster.de/
