New UniSysCat Junior Research Group in the field of Ultrafast Dynamics in Catalysis

Start Time: Friday, May 29, 2020 09:40 am

End Time:

Dr. Marius Horch has joined UniSysCat as a Junior Research Group leader in the field of Ultrafast Dynamics in Catalysis on the first of May, 2020. As a trained biotechnologist with a strong background in experimental and theoretical biophysics, Dr. Horch has contributed significantly to several interdisciplinary UniCat projects on hydrogenases and other bioinorganic catalysts in the past. After a very successful PhD thesis on structure-function relationships of metalloenzymes, he moved to the University of York to develop new spectroscopic strategies for the characterization of these biocatalytic key targets. Dr. Horch is currently establishing his own research group at the Department of Physics of the Freie Universität Berlin to further our understanding of the structure, function, and dynamics of complex catalytic systems by ultrafast and multidimensional spectroscopy as well as complimentary theoretical approaches.
