Bond Scission and Formation Facilitated by Polynuclear Metal Complexes

Prof. Dr. Leslie Justin Murray

University of Florida, Department of Chemistry

Polynuclear metal assemblies constitute active sites of metaloenzymes and can be considered as model systems for metal surfaces. Our aim is to develop synthetic systems to address mechanistic questions and to access similar reactivity potential effected by multimetallic assemblies, given the wealth of reactions catalyzed by such clusters. To that end, we will discuss ongoing efforts in activation of small molecules, such as dinitrogen and carbon dioxide, and particularly highlight our recent results on C–C bond formation.
