The success story of Porelio continues

Porelio is a startup that works on the removal of pollutants such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (“forever chemicals”) from water with advanced adsorbents, so-called functionalized mesoporous silicas. It was founded in 2024 by Rhea Machado and Javier Silva Mora, whose careers are closely linked to UniSysCat, and Nikol Michailidou. Their aim is to revolutionize the future of industrial separation and cleaning in order to increase sustainability in our society and to reach carbon-neutrality. And along this road Porelio is extremely successful, receiving on a single day five prices for their excellent performance.

On the 31 st of October, Javier Silva Mora, pitched successfully in Berlin for Porelio at Stage Two, the largest pan-European competition for start-ups from leading universities, and won four prizes. These include three investment opportunities from HTGF | High-Tech Gründerfonds, MITO Technology , and Atlantic Labs, as well as technical consulting for scale-up from Siemens.

At the same time, Dr. Rhea Machado, received the MassChallenge Switzerland Platinum Award 2025 in Lausanne, Switzerland. Porelio was selected among more than 1,500 startup applications and went through an intensive bootcamp that trained them as deep tech company.

UniSysCat warmly congratulates.
