For the first time, this year we are bringing together all past recipients of the Clara Immerwahr Award for a symposium in Berlin. This event offers a unique platform for scientific exchange, interdisciplinary discussions, and networking – both for the awardees and for students, researchers, and all interested participants. The festive symposium will take place on April 10, 9:00 – 18:00 h at TU Berlin. The Clara Immerwahr Award Ceremony follows on April 11, starting at 14:00 h at TU Berlin.
The Clara Immerwahr Award has been presented annually since 2011 - from 2011 to 2018 by the UniCat Cluster of Excellence, our predecessor, and since 2019 by UniSysCat. The award, named after Clara Immerwahr, the first woman to earn a doctorate in physical chemistry in Germany in 1900, honors a young female scientist each year who has made an outstanding contribution to the field of catalysis research. The award not only includes prize money of 15,000 euros, but also a research stay in one of the UniSysCat research groups in Berlin or Potsdam. In this way, we actively promote the careers of young female scientists by offering them unique opportunities for academic development and strengthening their network. And we also benefit from the ingenious ideas of the award-winning female researchers. That’s what we want to celebrate this year!
Therefore, on April 10, all Clara Immerwahr Awardees from previous years are invited to come to Berlin for the celebratory symposium. Seven scientists have already confirmed their attendance and will give lectures on their research. Their careers are impressive: from junior research group leaders to university professors in the fields of chemistry, biophysics, materials science and nanotechnology. With the symposium, we are creating an opportunity for a lively exchange, for mutual support and motivation, for establishing new collaborations and for the creative generation of new research ideas. We look forward to it and cordially invite you to join us!
Registration is open until April 6, 2025, via the TU Berlin event page.
