New UniSysCat Junior Research Group in the Field of Artificial Chemical Intelligence

Tobias Gensch is fascinated by the vision of an artificial chemical intelligence, an algorithm that could predict new catalytic reactions before the experiment to facilitate the chemical discovery process and help address synthetic challenges. As junior group leader within UniSysCat, he will lead an interdisciplinary research program that integrates experimental and computational chemistry with data science, drawing upon collaborations with other members of the cluster. In his previous research, he developed synthetic transformations on C–H bonds using organometallic catalysts during his PhD with Frank Glorius at the WWU Münster and he investigated quantitative structure–reactivity relationships, particularly of phosphine-based catalysts, during his postdoc with Matthew Sigman at the University of Utah.
